WOW! There is no other way to describe the first time, I heard the band RE-TROS...I had chills watching their video of human 'dolls' with face masks, drumming and singing 'Hang The Police' sounded as if I was listening to a new track by Joy Division or Gang of Four, but no it wasn't the band from Manchester or Leeds, this band came from Nanjing, China.

Drifted to Beijing in 2003, this trio made of frontman Hua Dong, bassist Liu Min and drummer Ma Hui began electrifying Beijing audiences with their darkly, explosive performances and sound.

RE-TROS came a long way, from the dark Beijing underground performances to touring of US, Europe and Australia. In 2007, the band played at the South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas, which gave them a good amount of attention from the US press outlets such as The New York Times, Village Voice, The Onion NY/Chicago and many others. The band was even invited to the ABC News studios for an appearance on the ‘Mix’, and was few months later featured nationally on NPR Radio.

Watch Out!Climate Has Changed, Fat Mum Rises, was their first released album in 2009, and got a top position on the indie charts in China. The album features tracks such as My Great Location, Escape Behind, which they have performed, live to audiences across the globe. Their music is danceable, explosive, brilliant and reminds heavily of the 70's and early 80's bands such as Bauhaus, Joy Division, B-52 and the band they toured Australia with, Gang Of Four.

RE-TROS have just finished a Modern Sky Festival in New York City, while they were playing among legendary Cat Power and bands such as Liars, Stars, The Blood Brothers and many more. They are currently in China, working on the new album.
