On this episode of China Calling, your host Vlatka will introduce you to Sound of the Xity (SOTX) China's largest music industry conference and music festival that happens every year at the end of April spread out to all major venues and clubs of Beijing.
Join in her in the discovery of new artists who were playing the event, hear an interview with James Minor, the head of the South by Southwest Festival (SXSW) who was in town to check on the event and came all the way from Austin, Texas as well as interviews with a Spanish band Holy Bouncer and the young English band Violet Youth, the first band that got signed by the China's largest record label Modernsky Entertainment in the UK. We'll be introducing you to Chinese post-rock bands such as Fazi who are touring Europe, to psychedelic Israeli band Tiny Fingers that are touring China.
